The flows of foreign tourists in Abruzzo, largely coming from the United States and Canada, follow very specific seasonal patterns, with high peaks in late spring and autumn, while the summer heat tends to slow down winery visits. However, when these enthusiasts finally arrive for a tasting, they face an insurmountable logistical reality.<\/span><\/p>

As Francesca explains:<\/span><\/p>

“Today, international travelers, even when planning three-week stays, travel almost exclusively with hand luggage. Hardly anyone checks in suitcases anymore. As a result, a product like wine is virtually impossible for them to take home in any way. So, offering them this type of service is certainly helpful for us, but believe me, it’s a true lifesaver for them, because otherwise they wouldn’t be able to take anything home.”<\/span><\/i><\/p>

Offering direct-to-door shipping is the natural response to this scenario. It is not just a commercial opportunity, but an essential service for guests, who often explicitly ask for it even before starting their tasting.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Cantina Margiotta experienced this risk firsthand when their long-standing U.S. importer suddenly decided to switch sectors, threatening to undermine years of hard work spent promoting the brand in the American market. Up until then, all private customer leads collected at the winery had been directed to that distributor, effectively severing the direct connection between producer and consumer.<\/span><\/p>

The B2C channel made it possible to break this cycle, ensuring that the winery retains ownership of the contact while offering the end customer maximum product transparency.<\/span><\/p>

“People often ask me, ‘Are the wines you ship to us the exact same ones I tasted here, or do you make specific wines for our market?’ Knowing they are dealing directly with the original producer gives them the certainty of receiving the genuine product at home, and that is something not to be underestimated. If they drink that specific label, they want to drink that exact label… in every respect. Quite honestly and professionally, I find it to be much more ethical.”<\/span><\/i><\/p>
